Fall 2009 NC Builder Institute Schedule Print E-mail

Registration for the Fall 2009 session of the North Carolina Builder Institute is now open.  The fall session will be held in conjunction with the 21st Century Building Expo & Conference in Charlotte, N.C. September 16-18. 

Highlights include:

  • The two courses needed to receive the Certified Green Professional Designation
  • New course, NCBI - BM205, The Faces of Survival will give practical information and tidbits on facing the current economic downturn in the building industry today.
  • In addition to the NCBI and NAHB courses offered, you can choose from a wide selection of general session seminars from "Certifying Your Green Home: Details, Details, Details" to "Romancing Finance: What You Need to Know to Close More Sales."

Green Building Classes Offered Print E-mail

The demand for green building in the home building industry is growing.  Below you will find a list of local associations offering green building classes:

 The Moore County Home Builders Association is offering the Green Building for Building Professionals class Aug. 20 & 21 at the MCHBA offices in Aberdeen.  The class is one of two courses that is required for the Certified Green Professional designation and will be taught by William Reaves.  Fees are $350 for for HBA members; and $450 for nonmembers.  The courses is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.  To register, e-mail Meredith Sledz at

Anytime you take a Builders University class at your local HBA, you can earn North Carolina Builder Institute (NCBI) credit, too. Credit applies toward AA and AB designations.

LNHBA University Offers NCBI Accreditation Program Print E-mail

The Lake Norman HBA University now offers the NCBI Accreditation Program, as part of the their program of classes!   No longer will you have to drive to Raleigh for your NCBI designation courses.  Classes are being held at Mitchell Community College in Mooresville, N.C., on a monthly basis.  The cost for HBA members is $180 per 8 hours and $95 per 4 hours.  Upon completion, builders receive this prestigious designation not only with NCBI, but also with the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors.
