If you had 15 minutes in front of the NCHBA membership, what would you say about membership recruitment/retention?

If I had an answer regarding how to retain members, all of my problems would be solved at Lake Norman! I think that is the puzzle that every association in the country is striving to solve. What we have done here is simply create a survey to give to our membership that asks “What do you think we are doing right?” and “What are we doing wrong?” This should give us some areas of improvement in order retain a few more members. Our membership committee has also begun a mentoring program, and our board has made a point of spending more time with new members and guests at our dinner meetings. Even though whatever you do, you will never please everyone, it’s important to keep trying to find ways to show members the value of their association membership.
